The Skeleton

December 5, 2008
A cold front had blown in and while we were digging it was pretty chilly. As we drew closer to the end of the period we uncovered what seemed like bones. We removed some more dirt to find we had a while skeleton. From the initial look while it is still in the ground our team thinks that it is a young child.

Block Day

December 3, 2008
Today we had block day and we had to try and move as much dirt as we can since we only have one more week left of digging. We worked the whole time and have yet to find anything interesting. It will be interesting to see if we can finish the square by the end of the semester.

Class Stuff

December 1, 2008
Today we were in chapel dress so we were not able to go out and dig. We use these days to clean the material culture that we found in the previous week. Half of my team spent the time cleaning a pot and some sort of pipe that we found. The rest of us helped Charlie team recreate the wall they had in their first square.

Moving Dirt

Finding the Bricks

October 4, 2oo8
Today we had to start looking for the missing bricks from the wall. Our group decided that the out wall had fallen and we had to dig on the side of the square to hope that we find them. After a little bit we hit one so we were in the right place and went from there.

The Great Day

October 29, 2008
Today started out the same way as all the others by getting the levels of our square. Then a high school art class came out to see what all we had done. In the first part of the class Zach found a small statue in pieces. This was an awesome find, but then we found a bronze statue that we dug down level so we could pull it out of the square. Our day was still not over, a little later we found what looked like a household God but a very small statue. The two small statues we found were broken so we had to be careful and look for the other pieces. Today we found the most material culture that we were able to take back to the classroom.
